EAMES ERA COOL! THIS AUCTION ISFOR A WONDERFUL MODERNIST PEWTER BROOCH BY JORGEN JENSEN. THE BROOCH IS MARKED "PEWTER HAND MADE JORGEN JENSEN DENMARK 789". ETCHED BLACK ENAMEL STRING ART LIKE DESIGN...GREAT BOOMERANG/PALETTE SHAPE! VERY SLEEK, SIMPLE MOD DESIGN. THE BROOCH MEASURES APPROX. 1 1/4" X 2 3/4".EXCELLENT CONDITION! Jorgen Jensen was the Georg Jensen's second son and also a silversmith. He trained with the German goldsmith Leonhard Ebert and studied at the City School of Arts and Crafts in Munich. He then trained at the Georg Jensen silversmithy and was a member of the company from 1917 to 1923. Tafter until 1936 he owned his own workshop in Stockhom but rejoined Georg Jensen in 1936 and worked as a silversmith t until 1962. He designed jewelery and hollowware and his pieces show an evolution from the early forms that are reminiscent of Johan Rohde to straighter lines and less ornamentation more closely resembling Sigvard Bernadotte's work.
