This antique, 12 1/2" tall x 5" wide x 4" deep, two handled vase was made by the Morimura Brothers of Japan and is, to simply state it, a beautiful work of art. A scenic view of a hill and tree surrounded lake, hand painted in browns, greens, yellows and other colors, wraps around the entire vase. Moraige raised slipwork and beading are used extensively. On the base is the teal blue Nippon Maple Leaf mark that dates the vase to a period between 1891 and 1915. This piece is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, repairs or crazing. T is no wear noted on the trim. On the lake scene on the back of the vase is a small dark spot. When looked at with a loupe it appears to be a small spot of brown paint. Someone has put felt pads on the base and t are some small bits of paper also stuck to the base. Supersize the photos for a closer look at condition.
