Unique Mother of Pearl InlaySet of Shot Glassed and Trayfrom the Estate of Major General Sibley Never seen a set like this before! Wow! Fantastic vintage set of shot glasses with tray measuring about 8 1/2' long by 5 3/4". Six shot glasses, measure about 1 1/4" at opening, just under 2" high. Amazing mother of pearl inlay all around edge of tray and around shot glasses. Appears to be brass used on this unique hand-crafted item. This item comes from the Brownfield, Maine estate of Major General Alden K. Sibley. A West Point graduate of 1933 and Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, Major Sibley earned three degrees in theoretical and nuclear physics and served as a White House aide to President Roosevelt. He served in Africa, the Middle East, London, and Vietnam, among other locations. He landed in Normandy shortly after the invasion and served as Chief of Staff in France. In addition to numerous top-level military positions, he was also an accomplished artist and wine expert. He died in 1999. An extraordinarily well-travelled and educated man with an impressive life!
