The top of the box has a metal plaque ( maybe copper or bronze, you can see a copperish hue) mounted with an inlaid stripe design all around it. It is a 3D plaque of the Bay of Naples with what looks like Mt. Vesuvius in the background. The right hand corner of the plaque has R. VIETATA embossed (see photo). Once open, you can see the innards of the music box in the bottom. The only writing you can see is GUENDET SWITZERLAND . The music winder is on the bottom. It still plays Santa Lucia beautifully (with a little bit of noisy gears). T are no other words on the inside of the box. The two ashtrays are small metal dips with indents to set cigarettes on. It has 4 intact feet. This piece is approximately from the 1940's. The box is read more
