ITEM: A well potted earthenware jug decorated on a vibrant pink lustre mottled ground with a soft black transfer nautical scene entitled The Shipwright's Arms, t is a four line poem to the reverse: THE SAILORS FAREWELL Far from home across the sea To foreign climes I go While far away O think of me And I'll remember you MAKER: Unknown - t are no identifying marks, the jug is of British origin and will have been manufactured in the Staffordshire potteries to emulate the much earlier 19th century Sunderland examples. DATE: Early to mid 20th century. CONDITION: Overall excellent without chips, cracks or restoration. DIMENSIONS: 6½ ins lip to handle by 5 ins and standing 5¼ ins high. Our PACKAGING is very carefully done using adequate high quality economically light materials (see feedbacks) for which we make no extra charge and without exception ALL dispatched items have been received in GOOD ORDER. After auction end we email the buyer personally to make contact and once the packaging is completed we give all the options available re POSTAGE and INSURANCE for both inland and overseas transactions...we ensure that all packages leave us with a secure printed LABEL with the correct ADDRESS which is checked and rechecked before mailing. We would do everything possible to assist in the unlikely event of a non delivery. PROBLEMS for whatever reason will be dealt with as painlessly and quickly as possible, we operate a no fuss RETURNS policy only if an item is not as described. We will state on the customs forms if an item is 'antique' (ie over 100 years old) and give all other required information to avoid IMPORT DUTY w relevant. If we are listing similar items from a part set we number each piece, you get the exact item you bid on. We will answer EMAILS as quickly as possible and if we are going to be away from the computer for a few days we will include that information within the description. We give our full attention to every stage of each transaction and our aim is to give the best possible service. Although (as previously mentioned above) all actual FAULTS will be detailed, most antique and old ceramics will, from the manufacturing methods of the time, have intrinsic features and marks (eg kiln/post marks, glaze pops/bubbles), this is expected and generally accepted and unless these features are considered unsightly or more pronounced than normal they will not necessarily be mentioned.
