Beautiful hand spun wool Navaho weaving was bought in 1977 in New Mexico. It still has its original tag from the Carson Trading Post, Gallup, NM, saying that it is a genuine Navajo rug. The tag has some general information about Gallup runners that says that the weft is wool and the warp is cotton. But this rug appears to have a wool warp. It also mentions the wool is usually shorn, cleaned, carded, spun and dyed by the Navajo women. (The tag has been removed from the rug but will be included.) This rug is very tightly woven from fairly thick hand spun wool giving it a nice texture. The colors are a creamy white, gray, and black. The end selvedge cords are gray. It measures 19.5 by 39 inches. This rug is suitable for the floor or for display. LOW RESERVE. EXCELLENT CONDITION! Very clean. It was never used on the floor. No holes, unravelling, repairs, surface dirt, stains, or odors. All four corner tassels are present. Two are very short. The corners curl slightly. I think t is a way to loosen them. I have stored the rug rolled up, but will fold it just for shipping. Email for more details or photos. Priority shipping (use shipping calculator) plus insurance. Paypal, money orders, or checks (must clear first).
