For sale is a black velvet Cloth boy doll with blue and white checked trousers and bow tie made by Norah WellingsThis is the sweetest little cloth doll with a priceless hand painted face, full of expression. I am not a doll collector and don't know much about them in general, but this little fellow was so darling that I couldn't pass him up!He is marked clearly on the bottom of his foot with a Made in England by Norah Wellings sewn on tag. From examples I have seen on ebay I would date him from the 1920's - 1930's time period. His head is jointed and turns freely. He measures approx. 8 1/2 inches tall.He is in wonderful vintage condition and his original owner must have played with him very carefully. He does show age appropriate light surface wear from playing and handling, some light soiling, some loose threads, some slightly pulled stitches, etc. The most noticeable condition issues are the moth holes in his wool cap. The cap is removable and most of the dolls you see for sale of this age are missing theirs.An exciting find for the Norah Wellings collector as well as black americana enthusiasts!
