Up for auction is a nice and quite large sized, vintage bentwood Shaker-style basket with fingered construction held in place with tiny brass nails. It has nice detailing, with a wood base and lots of curves. A sculpted bentwood handle arches overhead. The basket would have been made for use as a display basket or possibly a sewing basket, and is constructed totally of solid wood. The underside is stamped, "Early American Woodcraft, Marian W. Mitchell" with an address of Carbondale, IL. This nice basket will make a terrific addition to someone's collection (it would make a terrific basket to display a collection of minis) or could still be used for its original purpose if desired. The basket is a nice medium-large size, measuring 10½" x 7" across at the rim, and 3" deep - 9" tall to the top of the handle. It has a couple of flaws, including a small ding in the handle and glue in the base - obviously someone inserted a floral arrangement at some point. Aside from these exceptions, this basket has no damage whatever. The sides, and base are in perfect shape and the handle is still firmly attached. See photos, as they give a true picture of its condition. It still makes a beautiful piece for display. Additional Notes: I will be happy to provide discounted shipping for multiple items.
