This is a vintage padlock made by Wilson Bohannan. The key is inscribed showing W.Bohannan, Brooklyn, NY. The outside of the padlock has the large letters, WB. The padlock measures 4 1/4 “ from the top of the closed loop to the end of the loop (for a chain or some other carrier?) at the bottom of the padlock and measures 2 1/2 “ at the widest part of the padlock. It is 5/8” thick. The lock works well. It is heavy, weighing 11.9 oz. I have been told that the Wilson Bohannan Co. moved from Brooklyn to Marion, Oh in 1927 – so it appears that the padlock is at lease 81 years old. I also have information that says that the Wilson Bohannan is the oldest family owned padlock company still producing padlocks in the United States.I would say that this padlock looks old, appears to be well used, but is in great condition.
