Vintage pair of blacksmith tongs in fair condition , both handles have holes in them and when I found this item there was a long piece of rope through both holes. There is also a hole at the end of the longer arm which I am guessing would have housed an even longer handle. I am told that these tongs would have been used to pinch the snout of cattle or pigs to control them better and the rope(that I still have and could include if you want it) would have been pulled tight to close the tongs while holding onto a long pole that attached to the flare end of the tongs.
