UNFORTUNATELY it has tight, stable, 3 inch crack where the handle meets the body. I did fill it with water and left it for quite a while and it didn't leak at all. Also, while filled, I carried it by the handle with no problem at all. From either side, It still displays beautifully. The lid is in perfect condition with only the normal slight waviness and micro bubbles in the glass. The body has the pyrex mark as shown in the picture. The lid is scratch and chip free and has a pat. date of May 27 1919 which is probably for the glass itself because I found info. on line that says that they started thier teapot line in 1922 with the info. coming from an old catalog. I'm no expert so I'm leaving the facts up to you more knowledgable collectors. If you just want a lid, this auction is perfect for you. If you would like a cheap example of a rare piece of pyrex history that would actually still look great in your collection because, if the pot is displayed as shown in the first picture, or if it is turned so that the handle is facing the other way, you don't see the crack at all and it really is a nice looking piece, this auction is for you.
