For your consideration is this vintage, completely handmade, beautiful Giant Dahlia pattern queen size, heirloom quality quilt. It is made of 100% cotton fabric, and the batting is also 100% cotton low-loft batting, which gives it that wonderfully puckered, antique look. The dahlia flower is machine pieced with a gorgeous blend of soft yellow with maroon roses, a reddish-maroon and white plaid, solid maroon, medium blue with tiny maroon flowers, and a light/medium green with little brown leaves. The center is hand quilted in the ditch with maroon, cotton thread.The inside border (around the center dahlia flower) is made of the same medium blue with tiny flowers as in the large flower and is hand quilted in a 1 1/4" square pattern, also in maroon thread. This border is joined to the first outside border with a corded seam binding done in the soft yellow/rose fabric, which gives the quilt a snug looking fit on the edge of the matress. The first outside border is machine pieced with all the same colors as the center dahlia in 2 1/4" squares set on the diagonal and is 13" wide. The squares are also hand quilted in the ditch with maroon thread. The last outside border is made of the same soft yellow/rose. It is 2 1/4" wide, and it is also stitched in the ditch with maroon thread. The quilt is envelope-style bound, with a dark blue backing.
