Wow! A real find This is a fine example of an early Regal short scale (14 1/16") mandolin in original condition with its' original case. T are numbers visible in the top f hole: 7544. The back is two piece maple and the top two piece spruce (this is NOT a plywood box), and the sides appear to be walnut or rosewood. The tuners are original and in good working order. The finish is in excellent condition with minimal checking and no pick wear. T is one significant chip at the bass side of the bridge. The back looks new and all the binding is intact and firmly attached. The pick guard also looks new and unplayed. The sound is clear and firm and the neck and frets are in playable condition although these always play better after a fret leveling. The decal is long gone and the case is missing the trap door and the case handle is in need of repair. The tailpiece shows some tarnish but no pitting and would probably shine right up with some polish. T are some bumps and scratches and t but all in all this instrument is in truely remarkable condition for its' age.
