This is a rare beauty...a vintage music box made by the Rouge Co, from Saint-Croix, Switzerland..this music box was made in September of 1972, so it's now 44 years old. I just had this little gem fully restored by Tony Ciufinni, who actually trained at the Reuge Co. in Switzerland years ago and now has his own business of restoring these beautiful pieces to their full glory. This music box is a CH 4/50...which is a rare four song, 50 note cylinder, they stopped making four song music boxes somewhere during the early 1970s and from then on only produce 3/50 music boxes. This is a wind up mechanism and it will start to play when the top lid is opened, which will release the stop mechanism. The four songs are classical, baroque era songs which are..Clair de Lune by C. Debussy...The Blue Danube by Joh. Strauss...Waltz by Joh. Brahms and The Magic Flute (glockenspiel) by W.A. Mozart. Tony Ciufinni, the tech that restored this beautiful music box, has restored music boxes for names such as Michael Landon..a box that belonged to Marlene Dietrich, that her great grandson brought in to be restored to name a couple of high end clients. This rare gem will only increase in value as the years go by..this i can guarantee!
