Vintage Royal Artillery Inscribed Officer's Tankard - 86th Anti Tank Regiment (The Devonshire Regiment). This tankard is inscribed with the officers rank, name and regiment - this is followed by a quotation from The Rubayyat of Omar Khaayyam. The inscription reads as follows: CAPTAIN E.G.A HILLESLEY R.A 86TH ANTI-TANK REGT (THE DEVONSHIRE REGT) ROYAL ARTILLERY "AH, MY BELOVED, FILL THE CUP THAT CLEARS TO-DAY OF PAST REGRETS AND FUTURE FEARS" The tankard is glass-bottomed and it stands approximately 5 inches in height. It has an old 'warm' look to it, so I have made no attempt to clean it (most buyers of metal objects have their own preferred method of cleaning). Unfortunately I don't know what the base metal is. There are some scratches but no dings that I can see. Many thanks for looking. Any questions please ask.
