Velvet Crystal or Crystal Satin Goldfish Vase ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This etched satinized, frosted glass crystal vase is in excellent condition without chips, cracks or scratches. It is unmarked and looks very similar to the Fenton crystal velvet pattern name of Atlantis. United States Glass Co., according to my book had the original mould of that pattern which Fenton bought. The carnival Atlantis Vase I am looking at in my Fenton book (Fenton Glass the 3rd Twenty Five Years, page 93) shows a squattier vase with slightly different goldfish but again it is very similar even with the scalloped rim and footed vase and size & position of the goldfish. I do not have any information on the United States Glass Co. Mould Co. to compare it to. This lovely scalloped rim vase shows 4 fantail goldfish in various positions around the vase with strands of seawood and ripples of waves flowing upward. The fish are raised outward from the surface (embossed) in an etch look or method, and resemble the fancy fantail goldfish . It is 7 3/4" in height, and 5" in diameter at the mouth. Weight is 2 lbs, 13 oz., not quite 3 lbs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This would look great next to a fish aquarium or in the center of some potted plants, or as a centerpiece on a table. Fill with shredded blue metallic paper and insert artificial flowers in it for an elegant look.
