Vintage Scrimshaw Walrus Tooth Nautical Scene Ship Nude Authentic walrus tooth with nautical scrimshaw scene. Design features a nude woman with a 12 star American flag. Dedication reads; "My Love Jayne." The reverse side features the Colonial sailing ship "Albatross" which brought news of the outbreak of the War of 1812 to W. P. Hunt. The tip of the tooth reads; "1840 by J.H.A." The tooth itself appears to be vintage with nice patina, however the bone is not dried or cracked as an antique piece would be. The scrimshaw work itself appears to be relatively modern. The detailing is very clean and does not show any wear as an original piece would. This appears to be a pretty good quality reproduction.
