This vintage, early 20th century knife is a little over 3 1/2" long closed. It has three very sharp high carbon steel blades and a corkscrew. The linings and pins are of brass, and the bolsters and oval shield are of nickel silver. The buffalo horn scales are pristine with no nicks or cracks. All the blade tangs are stamped: Gebr. Dittmar, Heilbronn. In addition, the master blade has a handwritten sample number, which appears to be 2103, in indelible ink. Mentions of Gebr. Dittmar (Dittmar Brothers) company appear in German archives as early as in 1841 when a patent was granted to the company for improving straight razor strops. The company seems to have gone out of business in the early 20th century. This knife has never been used, is of excellent quality and is in excellent condition; the the scales are tight against the linings, the backsprings are polished on the inside, the blades snap well open and shut.
