You are viewing an old vegetable or market basket in really excellent vintage condition. From a Lancaster county Pennsylvania Estate Sale. This basket is top quality. the sides are reinforced with 1 inch wide wood strips.( see photo 3 ) the bottom is constructed of 2 inch oak strips and the sides are woven 6/8 inch strips. t are nails used in construction of the upper edge- each nail is hammered down for a smooth inside finish The sturdy handle is beautifully secured to the basket center with weaving and reinforced with small nails. the reinforced corners actually continue all the way under the basket and connect and reinforce the entire basket. The result is you could actually use this basket for shopping in a market and it could bear the weight of a considerable amount of produce. I love working collectibles and offer them frequently- this is yet another one. The aged patina of the oak strips is warm and lovely. most folks have to say t are breaks in the side of their old baskets BUT NOT THIS ONE. All four corners are intact. I Love it. You know I have a return policy if you are not happy with this basket but I would be surprised if that were the case. Measures 20 inches long and 11 1/2 inches wide and 7 inches deep.
