This rabbit puppet was made by Steiff during the years of 1959-1967. This puppet has no identifying marks as a chest tag or ear tag. Those disappeared a long time ago, however, the hole where the button and tag were are still there in the ear. The puppet is made out of mohair, has a hand-stitch mouth and nose, glass eyes, and air brush wool felt inserts as the inside of the ears. All the stitching is intact. The puppet still has the original ribbon that came with. It is a faded red/burgundy color. The head is stuffed with excelsior which was commonly used in the earlier Steiffs. See the picture of the inside of the puppet. The puppet stands 11” high. The airbrushing around the eyes, tip of the ears, paws and inside the ears are all still bright! Even the whiskers around the nose are still present. A nice vintage Steiff piece for a Steiff collection! Would recommend insurance if purchased.
