New old stock carved coral cameo, one of several loose cameos being offered in the coming weeks, including coral, shell and hard stone carvings.This is carved from salmon red coral and is a left facing depiction of the goddess Hera. Excellent detail and relief in this carving that measures 18.2mm tall by 13.1mm wide by 6.4mm at its thickest point. Weight is 1.9 grams.Actual hue is a muted peachy salmon with earthy undertones. Color is uniform in front with a darker vein on back side. The coral is hand carved and natural, without dye or other treatment. No inherent pits or crevasses, no chips or cracks.This is a vintage piece, likely 30-40 years old, never been set.
