NO RESERVE AUCTION! An original Stratton compact from the famous passenger ship RMS Queen Mary. I purchased this compact from an estate sale more than 30 years ago, and have never used it. The compact is in good condition for its age, about 3" in diameter. The clasp to open and shut the compact works fine. Its mirror is clear with no clouding or damage whatsoever. "Made in England" is stamped directly above the mirror. The high-quality brass along the edges is still shiny, although slightly tarnished on the inner plate and showing signs of wear on the outside bottom of the compact. The powder puff has separated from its cloth, and retains evidence of use by its original owner. An inner brass plate marked "Stratton" which separates powder from puff has become detached. The powder screen is intact. And finally, the picture on the compact is still quite vivid and colorful, even though t is some wear & a few minor scratches. This is a very well-made piece all in all, and a lovely item to own. Shipping is via Priority Mail, Insured with Delivery Confirmation. Payment is due within 4 days of auction's end. Paypal, money orders, cashier's checks and personal checks are all accepted from domestic buyers. (Item's shipment will be delayed until money order or checks clear.) Illinois residents will be charged an additional 7.75% tax. International bidders are required to use Paypal. And of course, combined shipping is available upon request PRIOR to payment.
