COLLECTABLE VINTAGE "ABNEY" LEVEL AND CLINOMETER A LOVELY PIECE OF PRECISION ENGINEERING DESCRIPTION This instrument is commonly known as an "Abney" Level & Clinometer. I have learned since that it can be used in a variety of ways by surveyors and military personnel. It can have a role as a range finder and for measuring angles of inclines. The item is approx 5 inches long The the instrument carries the maker's name " J H Steward, London ", a company well known in this field. CONDITION Whilst this instrument looks its age it appears to be in excellent working condition. See large pictures below;
