WELCOME! Presented for your consideration are these fine vintage Swank cufflinks in near mint condition! They were from a series Swank did in the mid-fifties that featured sportsman-related themes. I believe these were specifically called "runabouts", as they are meant to represent the wonderful Chris Craft (and similar makes) mahogany speed boats of the 40's-50's era. Condition is as follows: The goldtone patina is intact with no tarnish or wear- fully "gold" in appearance (they have no actual gold content and are not marked as such). The blue lucite canopies are factory intact and scratch/damage free. The painted parts are all factory original. There is only minor chipping of the yellow paint on the bow and stern hardware which is really only visible with magnification; it's mostly intact on all four features. The "mahogany" paint is all intact w/ no rubs or wear as factory issued. The only true anomaly seems to be factory produced- one 'link is angled, as some cufflinks are, and the other is straight. I say that because I found a pair that was sold here in January (missing one canopy- tragic!) and they were exactly the same! It's impossible to "correct" this with just your fingers; they're very solidly made. Regardless, this does not affect their functionality or appearance when worn, and is only noticable upon closer inspection for display. The condition overall is near mint and they are delightfully detailed and hard to find! The box is vintage Swank as pictured and also in near mint condition. I would comfortably rate it a 9 out of 10. The color and pattern are still rich and crisp; it must have been drawer-stored all it's life. Very, very minor wear to the bottom , but no deep scratches, gouges, tears, rubs etc. etc. The logo-ed satin insert inside has some dimpling and indentations from whatever it originally held, and there's perhaps a tiny bit of "foxing" to the bottom piece. One of the metal tabs that was attatched to one end of the elastic string has popped off underneath (it just happened when I took them out to photograph & will be included for you restoration perfectionists!), and the elastic itself has very little snap left to it, but still functions. It's a really beautiful vintage case that, I believe, pre-dated the cufflinks by a few years. It enhances the beauty of this as a set- the color compliments the paint on the cufflinks beautifully, and is a much swankier design than the later issued boxes! Any Gulf state viewers will appreciate the combination of boats in an alligator!!!
