This may be the ultimate found object, a metal take-a-number tag that was probably used in a butcher shop, deli or bakery many decades past. Printed black on ivory, the text reads: PLEASE DO NOT CARRY AWAY Your TAK-A-NUMBER is 56 THANK YOU FOR WAITING Davis Co. - P.O.Box 224 - Burlington Wis. Both sides are the same. The tag measures about 2 1⁄4âe X 3 7/8âe. This item was used, so as you would expect, it displays a few bumps and dings. The paint has been worn off along each of the edges, which are smooth and not sharp. I found a nice lot of these quite a while ago and only a few are left. Somehow, t were 2 of the #56 tag, so you can purchase one or both. ABOUT ME: Green Paper Packages offers vintage papers and collectibles, especially chosen for artists.
