CLASSICAL AND SIMPLE SILVER NECKLACE with AMETHYST CABOCHONS TAXCO NECKLACE This auction is for a lovely necklace which has been made in Mexico circa 1970's. Hand wrought from sterling silver this piece lays beautifully on the neck and is most comfortable to wear. Lovely movement and just the quality workmanship you would expect from the silversmiths in Mexico. The hallmarks on this piece read "Y(T?)R-35", TAXCO, MEXICO, 925. This hallmark identifies the piece as being made in TAXCO, MEXICO by a silversmith with the surname beginning with R and that he (she) was issued the number 35 by the Mexican Government. This is quite a delicate and simple design with nine links with the amethyst cabochon in an egg shape, the remaining links are oval repousse. All handwrought and with a tongue in box clasp there is a lovely patina to this piece and a little tarnish which could of course be polished off. It measures 16 1/2" x 5/8" and weighs 29 gms. Please on this immaculate and lovely necklace, it is certainly in gift giving condition if that is what you require. Please let me know if you need more information or would like more photographs.
