This is an old, well-used theodolite, made by Stanley, in its box, with tripod.The theodolite is marked STANLEY LONDON / 56327 / MADE IN ENGLAND. There is a slip of paper showing the arrangement of the instrument in the box, headed STANLEY, NEW ELTHAM, S.E.9. I don't know how old the instrument is, but my guess is that it dates to the 1950s or early 1960s. The box is very worn and the handle has fallen off. The theodolite appears to be complete but grubby. The tripod, which is also marked STANLEY LONDON / MADE IN ENGLAND , is also well used and grubby, but seems sound.
