A 1950s Vintage Thomas Toy TORPEDO ATTACK PLAY SET still in it's Original Box. Set cosists of a 7 piece spring operated EXPLODING BATTLESHIP and an ATOM SUBMARINE with spring powered Torperdo Tube and 2 Atom Torpedos. Both vesslels can float or run on land with attached rubber wheels. Battleship measures approximately 12.75 inches long and submarine measures approximately 11.5 inches long. Battleship consists of hull, 3 sections of superstructure and 3 gun turrents. Set the spring inside hull, assemble the battleship and when struck by the submarine's spring fired torpedo the ship "explodes" into pieces. The colorful original box measures approximately 15" X 10.75" X 2" and is complete with the original insert which holds pieces in place. Top of the box is die cut and folds out for display purposes. All 4 corners are torn and at one end the two corner pieces are unattached. Back side of the box pictures toy assembly and operating instructions and also pictures other Thomas Toys including the "MOBILE SEARCHLIGHT UNIT", "BOMB-A-SHIP" and "ATOM BOMBER."
