Vintage Till Cash Register by G. H. Gledhill and Sons Limited Circa 1892 This is a unique piece of equipment in good working order (Key to lock the till is however missing). and still has the instructions on the inside lid. It has a till roll, but this is not the correct one for the machine. On one side it has a repair with a wooden batten (See picture), and it has some general wear and trar, scratches indentations etc. This is a heavy piece weighing in at approx 4.3Kg, so is only being offered for sale in the UK Only. Buyer could collect or it can be posted. Size is approx 15" Long x 7 1/2" Wide x 6 3/4 High. History of the manufacturer: G H Gledhill and Sons Ltd was established by George H Gledhill (supported by his sons, Arthur H Gledhill, Gilbert Gledhill and Walter G Gledhill), to produce his new inventions. Whilst running a millinery business in Northgate, Halifax in 1886, he invented an automatic cash till and automatic cash displayer. In 1892, the company moved into the top floor of the Trinity Works on Harrison Road, Halifax, to manufacture cash tills. He subsequently took over the whole factory and opened two others in Halifax and one in Huddersfield. The firm bought Frank Brook's time recording business to form Gledhill-Brook Time Recorders Ltd in 1912.During World War 1, the company developed a bomb-release mechanism. read more
