Vintage Twilight of Painting , R.H. IvesGammell, 1946, 1 st ed.? This rare vintage edition of Twilight of Painting, An Analysis of Recent Trends to Serve in a Period of Reconstruction , written by R.H. Ives Gammell was published in 1946 by G.P. Putnam’s Sons. The book may be a first edition as there is only one publishing date listed. Some of the book’s chapters are: The New Standard, Representation as an Element in Painting, The Rebirth of Impressionism, Considerations on Impressionist Teaching, The Double Heritage and The Plight of the Young Painter Today. The green cloth over board cover is in very nice shape. There is minimal wear at the edges and corners. The spine has its original bright gilt printing and has not faded. The binding is tight and intact. The inside front and back covers are clean with the exception of an owner’s name and address inside the front cover and penciled prices inside the back cover. The pages are very clean with some slight yellowing around the edges. There are no markings or tears that I see. The book measures 11 x 8 ½” and has 133 pages.
