Vintage UCAGCO Ceramics Japan Early Provincial Rooster and Roses Rectangular Sugar Jar with LidThis is a really great 1950's Early Provincial aka Rooster and Roses hand painted Vintage Provincial Sugar Jars with Lid made by UCAGCO, Japan. The Jar is hand painted with colorful Pennsylvania Dutch style designs featuring colorful yellow & brown trim, green leaves and roosters and roses.The Sugar Jar Lid have dark red-green colored knob on top.NOTE: It is recommended these dishes are hand washed.United China & Glass Co. Inc., better known as UCAGCO, dates back to 1850. Founded by Abe Mayer and originally called Abe Mayer & Co., the importer did business throughout the Southeast U.S. as well as Central and South America. It wasn't until the 30's that the company took on the official trademark of UCAGCO and began expanding overseas. After the war, the company's agent in Japan, S.A. Stolaroff signed the very first contract allowing imports from "Occupied"
