This is a complete set of issues of the outstanding monthly British Jazz Journal magazine for the year 1949. The magazine founded by Sinclair Trail, focuses on American Jazz as well as the evolving British Jazz scene of the day. There are many scholarly articles on Jazz History and the associated recordings including discographical research and contemporary record reviews. There are a total of 12 monthly issues. These issues are quite hard to find! See my other listings for more vintage issues.The cover photos are priceless. They include Josh White, Wingy Manone, Claude Bolling, Jimmy McPartland, Sidney Bechet, Jelly Roll Morton, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and Fletcher Henderson.The magazines are in Good condition and all of the bindings are intact. Most issues (January thru October) have a full length visible crease from what appears to have been a fold in the middle along the vertical axis. Please examine all of the photos carefully before you bid. The magazines do have a musty odor from 65+ years of storage.Even though these are vintage magazines, they contain multiple advertisements and thus according to USPS cannot be shipped via Media Mail. Domestically they will be shipped via Priority Mail Flat rate.
