Up for auction today is a cool vintage Victorian die-cut embossed layered fold-out Valentine! The message on the front of the card is "A Token of Affection". When that front flap is folded down, there are 3 die cut figures that fold out. The first is a sailor holding a heart and Valentine card - this one is marked "Germany" in tiny print on the bottom edge. The next is a large horseshoe with flowers. The third is Cupid riding a flower-covered bicycle - it is marked "Printed in Germany". The back card shows three girls with bunnies. On the back is an ink written message "To Gilbert From Mother" and "Made in Germany" printed in the lower corner (which is actually part of the front flap and not the back card). This card was apparently glued in an album at one time, and there are three small paper loss spots on the back - these do NOT go through to the front of the card. Overall the card measures approx. 8" tall x 4 3/4" wide. I cannot see where any of the die cut pieces have broken off, but sometimes its hard to notice the tiny parts. The farthest clump of leaves on the horseshoe layer has been bent and shows a crease, but at least its still attached. The color looks great and it would make a great display piece in your Valentine collection. There may be some age discoloration to the back, but the front looks great! Here it is, just read more
