This sale is for an Anglo Indian hair comb of probably late 19th or early 20th century manufacture in antiqued gold tone metal. SIZE AND CONDITION: 5¾ x 4¼ ins; the ornament does show some signs of use and wear and could use a good clean but t are no missing stones and is in sound condition. This Anglo Indian hair comb is made in the design of a formalised lotus flower. The Lotus flower has been a popular symbol for hundreds of generations. It is one of the Eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune. In Oriental culture the lotus flower is a symbol of purity, which rises unsullied through muddy water. It symbolises the persistence of purity and tenacity despite the difficulties of the immediate environment.
