Wonderful exquisite velvet box that looks like it was from the Victorian Era... black velvet outside and black satin like material inside. The adornment on the top is very very unusual ! I'll do my best to describe. Its like gold thread and a darker color thread that is woven into flower designs, etc. and then t are these beads of sort. I took out a jewelers loop and looked at them. The are like teeny tiny, oh so small gold hoops that are strung onto the lid with delicate thread. At first i thought they were gold seed beads, but after looking really close, it seems they are little circles, not solid, put like a gold hoop earring would be. thats the only way I can describe it !! So odd but pretty. Then t are 4 larger round beads that almost look like Jade and could possibly be, but I'm not sure. I am not a professional jeweler, so bear with me ! The box is all wood covered with the black velvet. I know t's wood underneath, as 2 or the corners of the lid are starting to wear and you can see the wood slightly peaking out. I think if you look at the front left corner of the picture you can barely see it. The box measures 3 1/2" square. and 2 1/2" tall. Inside I found some old jewelry which I am listing separately.
