Up for grabs is a very cool looking custom viking style carving axe....This axe is approx 19 inches long and nothing short of awesome.....The head on this axe is one that I cut and reshaped out of an old True Temper hewing axe.....I cut the shape in this blade using my sabre saw and alot of oil, after I finished the reshaping I then polished the whole head to the finish that you see ( this axe head has not been chrome or nickel plated ).....All in all, I am pleased with how it turned out.....There is no damage to this head such as rust, cracks, welds, chips or pits...The cutting edge on this axe is only beveled on one side, the other side is flat....So this axe is basically a big chisel...The cutting edge is impressively sharp! This axe should not be mistaken for a toy.....The handle is handmade, laminated and shaped to produce my trademark design ( all polishing and woodwork done by myself) the wood species I used on this handle are Bolivian Rosewood, Bubinga, Zebrawood and Beech.....All the colors you see are the wood's natural colors....no stain, paint or dye was used to achieve the multi-color effect....I used several coats of clear enamel for the finish on the handle......this handle is very smooth and feels great in the hand.....I mounted and wedged the head tight and it looks good on both the top and bottom with no gaps... read more
