Vintage Virginia Metalcrafters vessel. This unique looking piece was mygrandmothers. I do not know exactly what it is, she lined the insidewith paraffin and placed a flower arrangement frog in the bottom and used it for flower arrangements. I do not know the age, although I do know for sure that it is over 40 years old as I can remember it from my childhood. As the pictures indicate, the inside of the lid shows a Virginia Metalcrafters mark followed by 26-10 CASH-PO, VA. Metalcrafters the opposite side of the lid says patented 1845. The bottom of the main part of the vessel has the Virginia Metalcrafters mark, 26-10, CASH-PO . I do not know the exact metal that this is made of, it is very heavy, so I am thinking cast iron. It stands 11 inches high with lid on. The lid is 7 inches x 7 inches square at it's base. The lid stands 5-1/2 inches tall. The bottom is 5-1/2 inches high The diamemeter of the bottom is 4 inches.
