VINTAGE WAVECREST BISCUIT JAR. WAVECREST IS A LINE OF DECORATED OPAL WARE (MILK GLASS) PATENTED BY THE C.F. MONROE COMPANY IN 1892. THIS JAR HAS RAISED HAND PAINTED ENAMEL FLOWERS, A DETAILED DECORATIVE RIM AND A TWISTED ROPE BAIL. THE PIECE MEASURES 6" TALL AND 5.5" WIDE. T IS NORMAL WEAR AND A LIGHT SURFACE SCRATCH. T IS NO LID. OTHERWISE CONDITION IS VERY GOOD, NO CHIPS OR CRACKS. Please ask all questions before bidding and send email address for photos. This is a non-returnable used antique item. Washington glass works started in 1837 in South Boston, MA. In 1894, the company merged with Pairpoint Manufacturing Co. in New Bedford, MA. Both companies produced pieces similar to this biscuit jar. We don't know enough to positively identify it as the early model made by Mt. Washington or the late model marketed as Wavecrest.
