This mid-1950s Westinghouse vintage electric fan has an amazing ball-shaped motor and fan assembly that appears to float in the center of a circular super-ellipse cage made of shiny steel. This Westinghouse model Y-50332 is actually part of a series of modular component fans made from the early to late 1950s. It is designed to snap into an adjustable window panel unit for use as a household exhaust fan. It can be removed from the window panel for use as a floor or tabletop fan (as this one is now). Some models even snapped into a hassock fan housing and a smaller kitchen exhaust in-wall panel. You could essentially carry this fan from room to room throughout the day and never need to buy another! This fan does have a chip in one of the plastic blades (see last photo). You can also see a short hairline crack traveling down from the chip. There is also supposed to be a moon disc hubcap style circular cover over the fan blade screw (where a name badge would typically appear on the front of a fan). Finally, there should be two small rubber sleeve-shaped bumpers on the bottom rear feet. These are unfortunate flaws, because this thing is otherwise in beautiful condition.
