A vintage 'wet cell glass battery jar' complete with single remaining battery plate. The jar measures approximately 90mm x 85mm x 180mm (inclusive of the filler cap). The one remaining battery plate inside is attached to the underside of the top - all of which can be lifted off as a complete assembly. Markings on the jar are an embossed 'ACID LEVEL', '+' and '-' symbols on both sides. The underside is embossed with 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. The top has the original filler screw cap and just a single connection pillar. All parts have been cleaned and the original 'sealant' that would have sealed the top has been removed. Condition is as shown in the pictures. The heavy duty glass jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. The plastic or 'Bakelite' top has a small perforation in the side and the '+' pillar is missing (broken off). A nice clean example - albeit incomplete - of an original 'wet cell glass battery jar' as might have been used for railway and railway telephony associated purposes. Arrangements can be made for local collection to save on postage (item is very heavy). Please note that the seller will be away from Friday 24th to Tuesday 28th October so will be unable to pack and despatch or be contactable until Wednesday 29th October. Apologise for any inconvenience caused.
