This little Wilton vise and base are in excellent working condition. There are no cracks or chips. There are no mechanical problems. Everything adjusts smoothly. There are no repairs. The jaws have very little wear and close up perfectly square. The jaws are removable. The "bullet" or cap end of the vise is not dented. Much of the original paint remains though someone painted over it with blue. It could be stripped of the blue and there is enough green underneath that it would still look really nice. It's really easy to adjust the base. All you do to loosen it is push the rod with the ball on it a short ways. Then you can twist and rotate the vise which pivots on a ball and socket stand. Simply pulling the rod back tightens the whole thing securely. The jaws are 2" wide. The vise opens up more than 2" but you risk not engaging enough threads if you go much more than that. This is a super high quality, handy, and hard to find vise and base. The vise is marked "CHICAGO" and the base is a #301 from Shiller Park, ILL. It will ship via Priority Mail with insurance.
