This is Winchester Store original 12" butchers' knife sharpening steel, model number 1758. The steel was manufactured during the Winchester Store era in the early 1920's when Winchester Repeating Arms sold hardware, housewares, and sporting goods in their line of company stores called Winchester Stores. I include a picture of the listing for the steel out of the 1923 reproduction Winchester Store catalog. The steel is constructed of a high grade steel material with a wooden handle. The model number, the Winchester trade name and made in USA is stamped in the metal round stock right above the diamond shaped guard. The condition is very good. Normal usage marks, no corrosion, no cracks or chips in the handle, minor tarnishing of steel surface from usage and storage. I am selling portions of a Winchester collection from a well respected and long time collector in eastern Oklahoma. Unless noted the items listed are original and not restored, not reprints.
