These 6 German made wood angel orchestra figurines arefrom our family estate sale. Thewings of the figurines are missing , but are still adorable. Five of the figurines have the stamp on the bottom âeoeMade in GDRâe and one of them (the oboe player) has a stamp on the bottom that says âeoeHergestellt in DERâe. The Cello player is missing the strings and top (tuner) of the instrument. Each figurine is approximately 2 1⁄4 inch high. I did some research on GDR manufacturers: In 1974, the Bundesgenchtshof made a ruling that âeoemade in Germany âe does not enable people to properly distinguish between the 2 Germanys of time so âeoemade in West Germany âe and âeoemade in GDRâe became popular. With the founding of the GDR (German Democratic Republic) in October 1949, the new East German government started to instruct companies to replace wrong âeoemade in Germany âe with âeoemade in German Democratic Republicâe or âeoemade in GDRâe. The West German manufacturers took up the challenge and started to mark their products with âeoemade in Western Germany distancing themselves from the now state owned companies of the GDR. After the fall of the wall in November 1989 and the official German reunification of October 3, 1990, all companies instantly use âeoemade in Germany âe again. The exact proceedings had been formed
