Book is of historical significance as it is stamped Service Club Library Camp Howze, Texas and property of the U.S. ARMY. The book carries the citation that it meets the recommendations of the war production board to conserve paper and other critical materials as an aid to the war effort.Camp Howze, Texas, was an infantry replacement training center in Texas. The name Howze was after Major General Robert Lee Howze, a Medal of Honor recipient.Camp Howze had a capacity of 39,963 soldiers, the camp was one of the largest training centers in the country. It was responsible for the preparation of several hundred thousand soldiers. Personnel trained at Camp Howze included the 84th, 86th, and 103rd Divisions of the U.S. Army.
