This vintage cigarette case dates to between 1942-1945 during the long forgotten China Burma India theater of WWII. It measures approx. 3" x 2 3/8" x 1" thick. One side shows the map of India with 6 gems in key locations. The other side is engraved with an image of the Taj Mahal with 4 gems at the top of the pillars. I did not have the gems tested so I don't know if they are rubies. The top is engraved with the name "George R. Luft" and the back is engraved with a foreign name in what appears to be the Hindi language. The last part of it looks very much like "MD". This is in good condition with age related surface scratches and dings to the most of the corner edges. Also a minor ding on one side of the top. This is being shown as found at an estate and has not been cleaned in any way. It could definitely use a good cleaning. Please look over the pictures carefully before placing your bids.
