Zenith Model 77 Vintage Console Tube Radio 1930s This vintage Zenith tube radio, model 77, serial number 260104,awaits skilled restoration. The cabinet is 36.75âe high, 30âe wide, and 17âe deep.The finish is flaking off, but the veneer is mostly intact. Tâe(tm)s rust and dust inside the cabinet, so much so that I decided not to plug in the radio to see if it would work. T are 5 glass tubes in the upper area, along with 3 metal cylinders. Below, tâe(tm)s another style glass tube and 3 metal tubes close together that seem to be part of a power box, plus one glass tube that appears to be a âeoespare,âe since itâe(tm)s not attached to anything else. The selection buttons on the front panel all move freely, but the wheel in the middle front does not. T are three knobs on the front, one of which is different from the other two, and may be a replacement. The speaker is intact, as is the decorative grill on the front. The sliding doors to cover the speaker open and close, and the door that conceals the station selection buttons works fine. With some loving care and refinishing, the cabinet would make a handsome, interesting decorative piece. For the electronics collector, this old radio could be a fabulous restoration project.
