Double your traffic. This STUNNING Vintage Album Sampler is full of wonderful suprises. I could write a book of details. All the blocks can be traced to Brackman patterns dating to 1931 and together with the feedsack fabrics they make a fabulous representation of quilting for this time period. Many of the blocks are assembled from 1/2 to 1 inch pieces. Even the first block in the shape of a Florentine Diamond is assembled from tiny 1/2 inch diamonds. The sunflower checkerboard block is decorated with tiny blue fabric covered buttons. Completed and signed by Gallathea in 1932. I am sure it was her pride and joy to accomplish this quilt. The size is 78 X 96 inches. Precisely quilted at 14 - 16 stitches per inch in straight diagonal lines over the top measuring one inch apart. The 7.25 inch is quilted in a diamond pattern. The binding is hand sewn and 100% intact. All materials are high quality cotton and the batting is summer weight. The only flaw I can find is fading ofthe fabric in the purple and white triangle mosaic block. This beauty is in UNWASHED condition and appears to have never been washed. It has been stored exceptionally well but has accumulated some dust over the years. After close inspection and consideration it appears to need a light wash to brighten it up and should clean up nicely. This quilt smells like dust.
