Another fun VINTAGE ESTATE find from the Vintage Salvage Sleuth! Used mechanical Valentine's Day greeting card featuring an airplane pilot waving a red heart from his biplane. Lack of tires and the presence of pontoons tell me this is a seaplane, ready to take off and land on water! Pilot's body rocks back and forth, as if he is waving. Greeting reads: "To one I love." Back of card is dated 1930 and signed To Ruben Schmidt F.MR." in ink. Marked "Printed in Germany" on front. Paper easel stand up style. Measures 5 3/4 " x 3 1/2 ." Excellent used working condition. Great collectible for an aviation enthusiast. This card is one in a large collection of valentines for Ruben Schmidt dating to the 1920's - 1930's. Ruben was born in 1920 in Gresham, Wisconsin. Please see my other auctions for more of Ruben's Valentines from the 1920's & 1930's -- lots of mechanicals and standups, some pop-ups, honeycombs, postcards, & flats.
