US servicemen often formed bowling teams at their overseas postings to build comeraderie and remind them of home. These servicemen often had bowling shirts custom made by local tailors, and these finely crafted shirts read like a man's service record. This Vintage US Air Force Vietnam Custom Embroidered Bowling Shirt is in excellent condition, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, soiling, staining, or damage of any kind to the lightweight cotton construction. It is beautifully embroidered at back with the bowling team's sponsor, "KUESTER INSURANCE AGENCY", above "TACHI GATE #6" and "YOKOTA GATE #3". These gate numbers are most likely referencing different entrance gates at Tachikawa air base. At the right shoulder, the shirt is embroidered with "TACHIKAWA JAPAN", with his years of service, "62-66" (1962-1966) embroidered in between. At the left back, the shirt is embroidered with the man's nickname, "HATCHER", in fine flowing script. At the left shoulder, the shirt is embroidered with the man's home state, "NEBRASKA". At the left chest, the shirt is embroidered with another one of the man's nicknames, "Flick", also in a fine flowing script. The shirt was custom made by the famous "Hamaya" of Yokohama, and bears their classic tailor tag at the inside neck. There is no size marked on the shirt, but it measures 21" from underarm to read more
