VTG ART DECO goldfilled Damascene BUTTERFLY BROOCH This is a stunning and expressive Damascene brooch I found at an Estate sale. I always go for the animals and nature themed pins! I thought this butterfly was so exquisite with the curving wings, antennae and the "swallow tails" Extremely beautiful and created with artful care of details! Check out the ribbed and "fuzzy" body of the butterfly, not to mention all the incised and inlaid ornamentation with magnificent, expressive butterfly scallops, designs and wing adornment. MEASUREMENTS: 2 1/2" wide 1 1/4" high STYLING/MATERIAL: this appears to be an older piece, possibly Art Deco there are TWO MARKS on the underside, like little flowers with some tiny letters in it, cannot tell anymore than that this is why I think it is goldfilled pin back a "C" clasp exquisite incised and inlaid decourations shades of light green, light blue, black, gold and some silver could be as early as Victorian, later as Art Deco because of the ornamentation, looks Egyptian Revival CONDITION/ISSUES: some very slight rub wear, but design is incised so there is nice texturing NOTABLES: will come in a gift jewelry pouch!
